Why it exists
Visibility is not the same as usefulness.
A business site can be technically present and still make a customer work too hard. This observatory tracks the signals that shape first impressions and repeat use: performance, mobile behavior, HTTPS, accessibility, detectable technologies, and what changes between editions.
V1 establishes the method and a deliberately cautious pilot framework. It does not rank named businesses, issue security certifications, or turn one synthetic test into a universal score.

“To be sampled” is an honest status, not a missing column.
A stock footage broker in the United States sits between the archive and the editor. The broker holds no vault of its own. It negotiates rates, clears rights, and delivers files, which matters when a project needs a clip that cannot be reshot. Editors and independent producers often weigh that route against filming original b-roll, and the trade-offs are practical: cost, turnaround, and how cleanly a clip cuts into the timeline.
